Year 9 Students visit Gamleby Sweden
Thirty three Year 9 students had an amazing opportunity to spend six days at the Technology Learning Camp in Gamleby, Sweden. The camp is situated amidst lush forestry, a serene lagoon and unpolluted fresh air providing students with a perfect learning environment.
During the trip Students were able to experience and understand Technology and the design process more holistically giving them a good foundation to build on at GCSE level. Students worked on designing and making T- Shirts and Jewellery and had the opportunity of working in well-kitted Textiles and Resistant Materials workshops. They used specialist textiles and Silversmithing techniques, equipment and machinery and produced high quality products which they were really proud of.
The students’ behaviour and manners were exceptional throughout the trip and were a real credit to the academy. The sense of humour of staff and students were well received, greatly developed and enjoyed. Brilliant friendships were made and memories to last for years to come.
