On Wednesday 23rd March 2011, 20 year 7 students were lucky enough to spend the day as a BBC report team. Joining them in this exciting venture were Tim Stokes, a BBC representative, and Veerle Dekesel, a Twickenham Academy English teacher.

Throughout the day students went on a journey starting with gathering the news stories (international, national and local), to reporting through newspaper articles, recording radio podcasts and reading the more traditional television news.

All Year 7 students currently on step 7 in the portal have been pracitising these challenging speaking, reading and writing skills.

Tim Stokes was astounded about the enthusiasm and dedication to the tasks set. Dean Byne, one of the student editors concluded “I thought this was very interesting and I also learned different techniques I need to be a real BBC reporter!!"

When we asked Adam Reguera-Rahim, another participant what he thought he stated“I really enjoyed the whole day and I would love to do it again."

Ahmed Walizadeh´s comments were “I loved it, it was a new experience, it was really fun and I had a brilliant time". Miss Dekesel
