DRESS CODE

Our students worked with a professional designer to create smart and practical Academy clothing items. Our dress code is in keeping with the philosophy of Twickenham Academy, allowing students some choice as to which items of clothing they wear and in which combination, providing the Twickenham Academy logo is visible at all times. This enables students to adapt their dress code according to the day´s activities and temperature, just as they would in the workplace.

The ‘mix´n´match´ elements of the dress code comprise a V-neck jumper, cardigan, polo shirts, blazer and tie. Examples of the different combinations can be seen throughout our prospectus and website.

Students may pick from the following:
A plain black traditional blazer
A Twickenham Academy tie
A plain white shirt or blouse
A black cardigan with blue and purple stripe detail and Academy logo
A black jumper with blue and purple stripe detail and Academy logo
A purple polo shirt with Academy logo
A blue polo shirt with Academy logo

At all times students are required to show that they are part of the Twickenham Academy community by wearing at least one item from the list that bears the Academy logo.

Students may not wear jeans, leggings or jogging bottoms.

Students can choose beween black shoes or plan black trainers without any colour, logos or coloured laces.  For safety reasons shoes should not have high heels.

For PE lessons students are expected to be appropriately dressed.  The PE clothing consists of:
Reversible rugby top - purple and blue - unisex
Contrast polo shirt purple (main colour) and blue
Blue socks
Black PE shorts or jogging trousers

Jewellery
Students may wear a small simple stud in each ear and one ring but they need to recognise that they are responsible for this and this requirement is so that we reduce health and safety risks.

Make up
Make up should be minimal and look natural.

Clothing in the Academy should at all times be smart and in a good state of repair, in keeping with a modern school.  We are, however, sensitive to the need to adapt clothing occasionally to meet the requirements of religious observance.  Standardised clothing expectations are not in place to exclude students from any background and therefore a parent having genuine difficulty providing items of Academy clothing should contact their child's College Director in confidence.
